Thank you for your advice.
   I am thinking about taking vista off from the laptop and putting xp on it. I 
heard of a free xp version that is called Crystal. Does anybody know anything 
about that?

Looks like reasonable information- especially that part about the 
hardware that might not be designed to run XP (probably because of all 
the extra hardware requirements for Vista). Personally, I hope to avoid 
Vista forever.
