[pchelpers] Problems with Firefox proxy settings

I installed the latest firefox update (2.0.0.14) and was rewarded with nothing
but
problems. Specifically I was unable to launch any of the tabs/web pages I had
open prior to the update. Whenever I attempted to relaunch or refresh the page
I
would get the following error message:

> The proxy server is refusing connections

> Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
> Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
> Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is
> working.

I'm probably clueless but I'm not aware of any proxy settings that I have on my
laptop, much less any that could cause this problem. At one point I did have an
extension that related to anonymous browsing called "Foxy Proxy". However, I
had disabled that long ago and completely uninstalled it after my update, to no
avail. I don't have any other firewalls other than the Windows. I've checked my
Windows Firewall : ==>
[Control Panel | Windows Firewall | Exceptions]

and made sure that Firefox is checked along with the other browsers.

The puzzling thing is that I am not having any connection problems with either
my
Opera or Internet Explore browsers.

I also don't have any Firefox addons that would seem to be proxy related.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might trouble shoot this problem?
TIA

Wndy

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
