Actually, I was hoping Andrew might know better.

I was thinking that it might be auto-sensing the paper, and upon
detecting thick paper, adjusting its' settings, although that sounds a
bit far-fetched now that I think about it a bit more -- one doesn't
want something printed in a different spot simply because someone got
some better or cheaper paper.  And you already said that she printed
on the back of a sheet of labels.

Hmm, you might check to see if she's only printing one page at a time,
or if she's printing several pages of a single document, putting a
test page in first, and then, because it looks good, putting in a page
of real labels for page 2. If the document alignment is off (so that
the second page is shifted or the page size is wrong), then it'll be
off when printed also.  On the other hand, you say it works fine with
the old printer.

It could be a paper-pickup problem, but that idea sounds a bit dubious
if she's had two of the same model do it.
