[pchelpers] Re: Posting for the quiet ones

Perhaps the same things I don't understand about it. The entire list
system is written in perl script, which is a powerful and versatile
language. It's also complex to create with a number of subtleties not
known to the average user. The end result is a utility which performs
admirably, most of the time. These oddities don't have to be in the
script, either. They can be faulty entries in data files, hidden control
characters or malformed data. Whatever the cause, these scripts can
sometimes do unexpected things with no clue as to why. Debugging and
perfecting such systems can be somewhere between a science and an art
form in my limited experience. I know just enough to be dangerous,
still, I'm sure you understand the import of this dissertation.
