Hi John,
Dial-a-fix is a fit-it utility for Windowx XP. DO NOT use on Windows

It is good at fixing lots of odd problems. Note that in addition to
the main screen, there is also a Tools screen.
ComboFix is a utility that repairs a number of problems automatically,
but other than that, should only be used under the direction of
someone familiar with it.

Side note: If a VPN is *active*, then it will typically force the
internet datastream to go out via the VPN. If the other end isn't
offering internet, then data going to port 80 will just disappear.
This presumably doesn't apply in this case, though. However, might
check to ensure that there is only ONE network adapter, and to delete
or disable any others, to avoid a similar effect (adapters can be
prioritized and so forth).
