I don't understand; where does the review say that it has spyware in it? 
The review seems to claim the opposite:
PeerGuardian is not advertising supported, nor does it require 
registration, and no information is collected from or about product users.

I wonder does one needs this if one already has a normal firewall? As 
far as i remember, Bonnie already has Sygate. Won't this cause conflicts?

And i couldn't find where in the following review was any reference to a 
version from elsewhere than the official site might not be clean:
