A couple of questions regarding matters I've forgotten over time with regard to
partitioning and formatting of a new hard drive.
1) Do I Fdisk before formatting?
I went to Fdisk and it asked "Because you have a Hard disk bigger than
512mb, do you wish to 'Enable Large Disk Support [Y]' "
I imagine the answer to that is No, because it went on to explain that
systems such as Win95, Win3.1 and DOS would not be able to access the drive.
As I am going to put Linux on the drive, will it matter? What questions is it
likely to ask me after answering this question?
2) Do I need a partition for a swap file in Linux, if I am not putting Windows
on the drive?
If 'Yes', is the Swap drive the first partition or second and how large
should it be? It is a 40gb Drive, but only 256mb RAM.
Some of these matters I have forgotten many years ago and some I have never
known.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
