[pchelpers] Parallel Port

My brother was using an older Microtek flatbed scanner (ScanMaker V310)
with a pci parallel port under Windows 98se. Now he has installed XPPro
and it will not recognize the port. The scanner does have XP drivers
provided by Microtek, but he says the port came with NO software from Best
Buy 2 yrs. ago. XP finds it - but says it cannot install because it cannot
find the software. Device Mgr. shows a yellow exclamation mark beside it
and of course the scanner can't possibly work till the port does. A phone
call to Best Buy was not helpful. Any suggestions?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
