Hi Folks,
I have a serious problem I hope you can help with.
I am trying to run Win XP Home Edition SP1 on a PC with these specs:
550 MGHTZ Via Samuel Processor
Via VT8601 Motherboard
512 MB SDRAM
On board video with 8MB Shared Video RAM
VIA TECH VT 8361/VT8601 Graphics Controller
AOC 4N Monitor set at 1024x768 32-bit color
On board Ac' 97 Audio
HSP56 MicroModem
4Port PCI to USB 2.0 card also 2 USB 1.1 Ports
Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TXv4)
E-IDE CDROM 48X/AKH
OPTORITE CD-RW CW5201
10 GB FUJITSU MPC3102AT E hard drive - Master
3 GB WDC AC23200L hard drive - Slave
P/S 2 Mouse
P/S 2 Keyboard
The problem is I keep getting B.S.O.D.'s with this information:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
STOP 0X00000050 (0X8B7FD34F, 0X00000001, 0X80583003, 0X00000000)
I tried installing SP2 and got a BSOD and had to do a system restore.
I have tried installing updated drivers for each component.
I set video acceleration to none.
I turned off caching and shadowing in the BIOS.
I ran SFC /SCANNOW.
I ran AVG, Spybot, AdAware, Spyware Doctor, Rootkit Revealer, Ewido
(under its new name) and some others I can't remember because I lost
them when
I re-installed the OS
I tried to use the event log and to debug the minidump but these are
beyond my capabilities, at least without direction.
I still get the BSOD's. Microsoft says it is one of my drivers that is
causing this but the question is which one?
I also get the blue screen when I try to run A-Squared.
Can someone please help me get this resolved? I don't want to go back to
running Win 98SE.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
