Well you could hook up 3 tvs to the one cable box, but what would be the 
point?
All 3 tvs could only show the one channel that the box was tune to.

I had a cable company like that once. You could only have one tv per outlet.
I had the cable running to my VCR and then to a switch box. We could 
watch the
TV in the living room, and then when watching a tape I could push a 
button and send the signal
to my bedroom tv and watch the tape in bed.

One day the cable guy came by putting in new cables. He saw the cable 
running from my vcr to my back bedroom
and said that I couldn't do that, and cut the cable. (Cable that I paid 
for with my own money)
Man was I mad. I think I had the right to run a cable from my own vcr to 
any room in my own house.
He should had told me that I couldn't connect their tv cable to my vcr 
instead of cutting my cable.

Glad I'm living in a town with no cable boxes. You can split the cable 
as many times as you want here.
