It occurs to me that you might take this warnimg with a grain of salt
until you check the transfer specs on the card reader; just because
the card reader supports USB 2.0 doesn't mean that it will transfer
data any faster. Some vendors add USB 2 support without changing the
transfer speed. If the specs indicate that it won't transfer data
noticeably faster, then you may want to consider whether the USB 2.0
adapter is worth it.
Also, note that some of the time spent transferring images is overhead
time, and won't be affected noticeably by using a USB 2 adapter. What
you can do is fill up the card with pics, then eject and re-insert the
card, then time how long it takes to copy the pics from the card to
the HD. Then, time how long it takes to copy those pics from where
they are on the HD to another folder on the HD (copy to another HD if
you have more than one). Subtracting will give you a rough
approximation of the maximum (note that word) amount of time that
you'll be able to save each time by going to USB 2.0. Checking the
specs, of course, will tell you if you'll be able to get anywhere near
that maximum.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
