[pchelpers] Re: Not Detecting Camera

Eric, a USB 2.0 card is not expensive at all. Not really a requirement
since most devices will use the USB 1.0 that probably is what you have
already.

Well! A gratifying end to this thread. I purchased an 8 in 1 card reader
this morning and tried it out this evening. I found that opening the card
contents and downloading the pictures was simply a breeze. So fast!!
The instructions advise that no drivers are required with WIN XP. However
when I plug it into the USB port/cable an on-screen message tells me that:
"HI-SPEED USB Device Attached To a non-HISPEED HUB! This USB Mass Storage
Device is a HI-SPEED USB device and will function at reduced speed when
plugged into a non-HI-SPEED PORT. You must add a HI-SPEED USB host
controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance."
Question:- What is a HI-SPEED USB host controller? Is it software?
You folks have been so helpful that I am beginning to expect only expert
advice. Thanks so much to all who responded.
Eric

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
