My harddrive is FAT32, so that could account for the difference. Mostly when I backup my windows, it is not more than 1,5 Giga. Did you try to backup on a DVD? That is what I want to try, whenever I will have a DVD burner. Than the backup won't take up space on your harddrive. I hope you will succeed in using it and then it will be a breeze to format your harddrive.
