A report published by the FBI's Internet Fraud Complaint Center noted
that Internet Fraud increased by 33% in the US in 2008, the first time
that figure has risen in three years. Figures for 2009 aren't looking
promising either, with the period from February to March showing a 50%
increase in fraud complaints. As a large number of incidents are
unlikely to be reported, the problem may be more widespread than those
figures suggest
