John, one of these drivers may work. But I am not skilled enough. I need more

Hmmm.... I don't have that one, but sometimes another manufacturers
driver will do. These lines were copied from my Windows 98 bootup disk
config.sys file

device=oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=btcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=aspicd.sys /D:mscd001

Please note: The format is much the same in each case, the only
difference being the name of the driver file. If you need these files, I
can email them to your address rather than the list (attachments are not
permitted on the list).
