Deb,
One thing that can change the settings is when you receive an ad online.
Many times you will see another window pop up from double click and it is an
advertisement. Many times these ads are left behind on your machine. I would
suggest the following:
Using your Windows explorer, click on the little "plus" sign next to the
Windows Directory and allow Windows to open up as it were. Now scroll down
and find the Cookies Directory. Click on the Cookies Directory and allow it
to open up. I suggest that you delete on a regular basis the cookie files
that are located in this directory. Also set the limit for this directory's
size by opening up your IE and using tools. I suggest no more than 1 MEG.
Another thing you can do is to go to lavasoft.com and download their
software, its free, which when run will delete these pesky ads that at times
seem to control things on your computer. After cleaning up the Cookies
Directory, try to see if after another Internet session your dialup will
stay the same as before the session.

Dial-Up Connection
What are some [possible causes of my Internet Properties Connections
changing settings "on their own", that is, without me manually changing
them? Often I find that instead of "Always dial my default connection" being
selected, it has changed to "Never dial connection".
I always shut down by first disconnecting from my dial-up connection.
However, even if I forget, that is not the cause of this change of setting.
