[pchelpers] Re: Networking - Calling on all computer gurus for help

I realize that Microsoft is no paragon of virtue. Yet one of the worst
banes of networking was a variety of different connecting
schemes....proprietory ones at that ...that would connect to nothing but
themselves.

Sometimes nothing would work except one company and even then one division
of the company might not make compatable items with another division.

Microsoft has changed that. I remember the first time I tried to setup a
Win Socket using a program from Australia, so I could get a browser to work
on Win 3.1.
Took me a month!.
Now I can connect to DSL in less than 10 min with XP.

That is progress...even if it is spelled "Microsoft".

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
