Thanks Scott,
That information is very specific and very helpful.
What happened to me was that I had all the correct IP addresses for the
top section but when I
changed it from Dynamic to Fixed it also wiped out the following addresses.
IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254
IPv4 DHCP Server: 192.168.1.254
IPv4 DNS Servers: 192.168.1.254, 192.168.1.254
IPv4 WINS Server:
At that point I could no longer access the Modem with or without the
Switch.
Fortunately when I reset the modem, Switch box and Computer It reset to
the Dynamic Addressing.
I was able to access the Modem and the Internet
However when I set the TCP and UDP ports it worked until I turned off
the computer last night.
This morning the whole problem was back. This evening I went through
that process again
but did not click on enable in the setup. Hopefully that will solve the
problem but if not I will try
going back to setting static addresses with all the IP address I now
have accumulated.
Thanks much for your help.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
