[pchelpers] My computer is acting funny...

After the funny behavior of the past couple of days, I was reminded of
something important. Both Scot and I have tried to encourage safe
practices among our friends so as not to run into many of the nasty
situations users encounter (often with monotonous regularity). It was at
this point I came across Scot's comment of some years ago that still
applies today:
"The biggest computer security problem is that most people still don't
realise that safe computing and surfing habits are much more important
and effective than even the best antivirus and other security programs."

Are your practices this careful? Admittedly I have had trouble at times
(yesterday's news page problem was caused at moreover.com), or are you
more inclined to browse blindly on with the protection of anti-spyware
etc until something goes terribly wrong? Can you look over your own
shoulder? What might you see if you could?
When the next tempting message arrives in your inbox (such as a sizable
offer from overseas) will you think first, or just respond? Was the
result think or thunk?
