YES.

NO. As long as you don't deliberately start moving infectious stuff to 
your main drive it will be fine.

The primary one is hard to clean because its software (including 
infections) are active. A secondary one is easier to clean because its 
contents are not started with windows. It becomes just data to work on. 
None of the infections contained on it activate when the system powers 
up. That's why it is described as 'passive'.
