[pchelpers] Re: Modems and mobiles

Mmm, never thought about that, but I mentioned about the modem because I
remember seeing a Siemens phone advertised and one of the things on it's
list of functions was a modem.??? I'm not too sure what's it for and I'm
also not sure what advantage it would give over other phones. Unfortunately
I'm not too up on the latest gadgets, but modem was listed.

Now you all got me scratching my head. If a modem is just basically
a phone without a handset and dialpad. How call a cell phone have a modem?
Wouldn't that be like a phone having a built in phone?
Educate me

Do my next question is: How can I find out if my cell phone and modem
would
support this (e.g. I know that there are some cell phones with built in
modems - is that what's needed?). What kind of cables are necessary? My
modem is U.S. Robotics 56k Voice Internal PCI.
Thanks again - I must say that this list is an education in itself!

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
