I hadnb't heard about this before now, but I finally found an article
on the subject:
http://star-techcentral.com/tech/story.asp?file=/2006/4/25/prodit/14029720&sec=prodit

It appears to be the latest revision of KB905474, details here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905474
The page also has instructions on how to disable the notifications
temporarily.

If she has XP Pro, it's probably actually the Corporate version.

My understanding is that security-related patches will still be
available.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
