Last week, using the System Configuration Utility
and StartUp Control Panel, I was able to free up
115.83 of my 256 MB of memory. This was the
reading just after startup where I hadn't gone into
applications.
Today, I installed another 256 MB of memory and
I now find the 512 recognized, but only 302.78 available.
[per Systems Information under Systems tools]
I only have four icons on my task bar, google desk top,
volume control and two icons concerned with AVG virus
control.
When I go to Windows Task Master, Processes Tab,
I see numbers that total the difference of 302.78 and 512.
[Explorer 23MB, Svchost.exe 5 totaling 35MB plus enough
other to com to 209MB].
Under the Systems Control Utility, I see only those items below
in start up.
Nwiz, Nvcpl, avgemc, avgcc, mmr, google desk top, **Power
**Reg Scheduler. I tried to remove ** from stratup but
received messages that did not allow it.
I'm curious if adding the 256 MB of storage might had caused
me to loose some of the storage efficiency I obtained by removing
items from startup when I only had a total of 256MB. Now I have
(4 X 128) or RDDRAM 1066.
Any thought?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
