What firewall or other ad-blocking software do you have? Did you get an 
update to one of those recently?

My next bet is an unsuccessful DNS lookup attempt. You need to clear the 
cache, as mentioned together with other ideas on

It's an ISP and Windows problem. Windows is caching unsuccessful DNS 
lookup attempts and is not making any attempt to look again until the 
cache entry expires.

Contrary to what MS claims on 
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318803 disabling 
the DNS client service does not AFAIR noticeably slow down Internet 
connectivity in the case of a broadband connection because it finds the 
DNS info almost as fast in the Internet as in your computer's cache, 
which can be wrong until it expires.
