I found my problem.
It is AVG
I uninstalled it and now TB can download my mail.
I re-installed AVG and TB can no longer download the mail.
A gray box pop up saying Auto POP3 connected to nsl.wtrt.net.
Then it drops down and nothing happens but the green bar
moving side to side.
I un-installed AVG once again and this time a Box came up saying
"Unable to verify the identity as a trusted site"
It will not let me pick the "Accept the certificate permanently"
It will only let me pick "Accept the certificate temporarily for this
session"
Then I got a time out box.
And when I clicked on get mail I got a box saying
"Thunderbird can't connect securely to mail.wtrt.net because
the site uses a security protocol which isn't enabled"
I shut it all down and when the box came up about a trusted site
I click OK and now it download the mail.
But when I send something for the first time in each session I get this box.
"You have attempted to establish a connection with mail.wtrt.net.
However the security certificate presented belongs to "mail" "
I can live with going thru an extra step but what do I do about a
anti-virus program?
Pc

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
