Yes, and i just realised i'd forgotten to answer your other question
about why. Apparently Mozilla uses "import" to only mean "real"
importing from another program. This is probably due to the fact that
you don't have to actually do anything fancy or complicated to move your
email to a new computer. If you want to add a mail folder using drag
and drop in OE, for example, you have to first make folders with the old
names. In TB, the old folders automatically appear in the program when
you drop them into the new profile folder.
I just looked closer at the links i sent and just realised they don't
explain the simple case you have; they're talking about changing the
location on the same computer. In your case, all you have to do, as far
as i can see, is simply install Thunderbird on the new computer and then
copy the old profile folder contents (not the main folder itself) *into*
the profile folder on the new computer.
You'll be asked, of course, (by Windows) if you want to replace the new
Inbox and other standard folders by the old ones. You'll of course
answer Yes because the new ones are empty. So i'll have to edit the
knowledge base to include that common situation of moving to a new
computer and the easy three-mouseclick solution. You and anybody else
can also edit the knowledge base.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
