Hi Jo and Re-Na
Re-Na's solution looks like a good one-time thing, but i'm pretty sure
there are permanent free solutions too.
The solution can be found once one knows with what program the file was
made and with what program you want to open it, Jo. You see, Jo, Macs
and PCs don't save or open files, not even Mac operating systems and
Windows. If you saved it using Word for Macintosh and are trying to open
it using Word (for Windows), it might work if you have all the possible
so-called filters installed. Put your installation CD back in and have
it install all possible elements of Word (unless you're short of hard
disk space); that way you won't have to dig it out whenever you want to
start using a new Word feature.
Or are you using OpenOffice or some other word processor?

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
