[pchelpers] Re: MS Vista and upgrade

Hi Gerald,

This sounds contradictory. If it's only compatible with Vista Basic,
then it's not the latest technology.

If you got it on or after Oct 1, Dell may offer Vista Home (probably
Basic) to you for cheap or free.

My Hauppage (a customized version) worked just fine with the same
drivers that I used for XP; it was the recording software (Beyond TV)
that wasn't quite compatible at the time, but they're testing a
Vista-compatible version now (should have started on it sooner, I
think).

It may be flagged as incompatible simply due to not having Vista
drivers, but may work ok anyway. What is the exact wording?

Review the Wikipedia page that I posted the link for the day before
yesterday; it has a considerable amount of detail about what is
different. Here's the section on new and improved features:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Windows_Vista#New_or_improved_features

I don't think that the article says so, but note that all prior
versions of Windows are getting lots of security patches, while Vista
does not.
