You can do that successfully but there is a long term time bomb in 
systems like this. Since you don't have a CD, the source files on the 
hidden partition are exposed to the effects of both drive/file wear and 
infection. This was borne out recently when one customer brought his PC 
to me. It was riddled with infections hidden in some of the most 
secretive areas of the windows partition. It took most of the day to 
clean and even when that was done, the system required a CD to repair 
windows system file degradation.

Does that explain why some don't recommend cheap pre-loaded windows systems?
