Have you tried Googling for an answer? Searches with <password excel>
and <"lost password" excel> (without chevrons) produces a lot of
interesting results. I spent quite a bit of time reading some of the
results the other day, but i couldn't decide which is the best approach.
The following seemed the most interesting Google results i tried because
they provided free solutions or provided demos that recover the first
few characters of the password or promised to make you pay only of they
worked:
http://passwordnow.com/en/excel_password_types.asp
http://www.recoveryengine.com/excel-password/
http://www.lastbit.com/excel/
I guess a lot depends on how strong the encryption was that you used.
