[pchelpers] Local news:Joint legal offensive on cyber-crime

Laws and legal action to deal with the emergent cycle of cyber-crime in 
the region are now under serious consideration among legal experts in 
Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia.

On Thursday nearly 200 officers from the Attorney General's Chambers of 
Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia met and discussed in Singapore ways and 
means to bolster close legal cooperation, Singapore's Deputy Prime 
Minister who is also the Minister for Law, S. Jayakumar addressing the 
gathering said there is a need to harmonise the substantive criminal law 
to fight cyber-crime.

This is vital in particular "to reduce data havens and deny 
cyber-criminals the opportunity to carry out their activities in third 
states where such conduct is not yet criminalised, the minister noted.
