Mandrake warned me that if I prerssed any key to continue I could
destroy my Windows partition. It had said that once earlier without any
damage so I proceeded. DUMB. Wiser now EG.

Ubuntu moved everything that was inside the partition I had made to the
Windows partition and then formatted the partition as ext3 which is one
of the Linux formats. Reiser is similar to NTFS I think, but maybe
wisely wrong there. Linux runs best on EXT2 or 3.
Most of the distro's have well supporting sites which give install
instructions and advice..... dont put 'this' distro on a dual boot with
Windows on NTFS etc.. Most distro's now are able to be installed as
dual boot with Windows on NTFS is it is a 2005 release.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
