I'd like to put in my 2cts worth here. I use an elevated pad for my Fujitsu
Lifebook which gets pretty hot at its base too. This leaves space at the
base for air circulation. There are many other types of laptop cooling
pads...usually plugged into a USB port which power the fans and that really
helps to dissipate the heat.
