There is no need to mess with this; the TweakUI PowerToy allows you to
hide drives this way, as I recall, and is almost certainly the method
that was used ... if this were the case, which it's not, since it's
not visible on YOUR computer either. It must be YOUR registry which
has been modified to hide the drive, which I doubt that you've done,
therefore it must be a problem with the partition on the drive.

If you encrypted an entire partition, you'd still be able to see all
of the files (in the root, at least), you just wouldn't be able to
open them.
