[pchelpers] Invisible drive headache

Here's a new one to think on. I brought a customer's hard drive to the
workshop to backup the files, since his computers could not see the
contents. Unfortunately, neither can mine.

The drive is formatted by windows 2000 server (probably NTFS) and is
near the end of its service life. The irony is, my BIOS can see it, but
windows won't show it in 'my computer'. It's important to backup the
files as they contain current records of the business.

A search revealed that it is possible to hide drives in this area by
adjusting the registry (details here)

I need you to put your thinking caps on please and tell me what you come
up with RSVP.
