Didn't anything happen at all? Explain what you did. When you click on
the download link, something must have happened!

Do you understand the difference between downloading and installing? Try
downloading one program at a time. Do not try to install anything
directly from a website unless you are forced to do so, for example with
IE. Once you have the installers on your computer, doubleclicking on
them in Vista should work and should produce a popup asking whether
you're sure but apparently iTunes and some other programs instead
require rightclicking and choosing "run as administrator".

Why wouldn't Windows want you to reinstall a program? Please forget
about your IP address; it has absolutely no influence whatsoever on the
problems you are experiencing. And what gives you the idea that the two
computers would have the same IP address? Did you use both computers to
go to the website whose address Cyril sent? http://www.whatismyip.com

And do you really need IE? See this:

No reason to rush your upgrade to IE 8

In fact, using IE is like painting a bull's-eye on your forehead and
walking into a war zone.

There's no doubt that IE 8 is a much better browser than IE 7.
Nevertheless, it's still inferior to Firefox and other alternatives. As
to whether you should upgrade to IE 8 now or later, my advice is to use
Firefox instead of either version.

If you must use Internet Explorer, I suggest you wait at least a month —
two months would be better — before upgrading to IE 8.

1) BitDefender is not a good idea because the free version has only very
limited functionality.

2) You can uninstall AVG and try another program like
http://www.free-av.com and then reinstall AVG if you want.

Would have been good to say that at the beginning of your message :-)
but maybe others will be happy to find the instructions, and they'll
help you with installations of other programs too on Vista.
