Hi John
Thanks for the reply. As I understand things - correct me if I'm wrong -
the registry is backed-up everytime you boot up. If this is the case,
then this wouldn't help as the backup would be holding the faulty file
too.
I did run SFC as you suggested and a number of files were corrupt and I
replaced them via SFC and my Win 98SE disk.
However, IE still keeps on attempting to open but closes down
repeatedly.
Where to from here?

| If install/uninstall won't work, there may be file corruption. Start
| with the basics. Scandisk thorough. Restore the registry from backup
| (double click on the backup). If you don't have one, don't make the
| mistake of creating one now.
