90-100 F is a good operating temperature. 120 F + is getting high. My
husband installed a fan in his and it made all the difference in the
world. He hasn't had a hard drive failure in quite some time now (he
was prone to HDD failures a lot in the past). I, however, only buy
Western Digital hard drives for my computer and so far I've never needed
a fan. They are known to run cooler than the others.
