Just guessing here, some are corporate funded. There is a great deal of
cudos in hosting the worlds largest search engine. It's a major image
builder. Others, like Mamma and Altavista accept paid listings for fast
placement, even when they offer a free submission service. Others
benefit from other paid services they provide, such as having the
largest database of businesses- makes it possible to facilitate business
activity very effectively.
Anybody got an advance on that?
