A router is probably cheaper than the above. I had one but could not get 
it to work so
I sent it back. If  I could set up a wired router so that both machines 
could connect to
the DSL Modem through the router that would be my preference. But I 
would surely
need some help understanding how to set it up. I could not get either 
machine through
the router to the internet through the DSL modem.

The machines are near each other so a wireless router is probably not
