If only 2 machines, it makes the job harder if anything (due to the odd 
man out theory). The quickest way is to connect them directly using a 
crossover ethernet RJ45 cable. It's far more likely to work than 
wireless. You will need to share some files/folders on each machine to 
find out if it is working. Alternatively, use 2 straight cables to the 
router.
