Did you close Access before burning the file to CD? Probably, else the
burning software *should* have complained if it couldn't read it
properly.

Did you copy the file from the CD to the hard drive, and then
un-write-protect the file, before trying to open it? I'd tend to doubt
that Access will let you open a read-only file; many programs have
that problem, and typically, I stumble over it every time, and I spend
minutes cussing at it before I remember what the problem is.
