My opinion then would be to boot into Command Prompt mode (instead of the
normal Windows startup) and run the configuration utility on the disk.  You
will probably need to set the Base Port Address and IRQ manually.  Settings
that I've typically used in the past are IRQ of 11, 10, or 3 (probably in
that order), and a Base Port Address of 300.  I suspect that the motherboard
isn't detecting the settings properly, or the existing settings are
conflicting with other hardware in the machine.
