If XP is running on the system right now, it should recognize the drive 
contents. It may be an idea to look at the partition (Norton Partition 
Magic or even Fdisk) to find out if the partition is intact and 
functional. If not even that is detectable, check for drive detection 
problems in the BIOS. All this is assuming the drive is not encrypted.
