The bar that you can't erase made me think of something I learned in a class. 
There are websites that give you some kind of an item that you cannot get rid 
of, or they just make you think you are infected, so you would use THEIR 
products or their scanner, which WILL give you spyware or worms.
  Have you tried "housecall" by trendmicro yet? This is a free online scanner, 
which is really good. Another great online scanner is Hijackfree, by emsisoft. 
I have been using this one for years. If you are really infected, one of them 
should find it. Another good program that finds trojans is Antivir - go to    
www.free-av.com

Seriously! I was surfing for an email validator program and
suddenly I was assailed by a flood of pop-ups proclaiming
that "Your System is Probably Infected With bla-bla-bla"
and Security Alerts and the appearance of a "Protection Bar"

Also "Adware Popups Detected" and Security Centre "Spyware

I've done a NoAdware scan and an AVG scan of my entire disk.
I don't have a trojan remover. Can anyone recommend one that
I could use to scan the HDD?


More importantly - please help me rid my machine of whatever
is causing all these alerts.
