[pchelpers] [Fwd: Re: Re: Change Open With in Vista]

1. If I right click on a txt file and then click Open With it displays
possible programs but Editpad is not one of them so I click on choose
default program
and a screen displays several programs, however Editpad is not one of them
2. When I click on other programs it displays several more programs but
Editpad is still missing
3. There is a Browse button so clicking on that and Explore screen opens
with a entry area in which I can type the location of Editpad or I can
use explore to go to the location of Editpad . In either case entering
that and clicking OK or having selected the program on the Explore panel
The original panel with the display of the original programs is
displayed without any display for Editpad.
4. If at that point I click OK the text program opens up with Notepad
and not Editpad.
5. I do not know how to replace Notepad.exe with Editpad.exe in the
Program Files Folder.
6. Vista will not permit me to overlay Notepad.exe with a renamed
Editpad.exe file.
7. I cannot seem to be able to add Editpad.exe to the Program Files
Folder with Administrator rights, if I could maybe the program would
come up for a possible selection

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
