I've had the same kind of experience. It is all over the internet. Rules 
are ok if you have to block specific senders, but for all the addresses 
I have blocked, I would have to write over 12000 rules! Then as you say, 
they keep changing. Email systems like Mozilla have junk filters that 
learn to recognise spam characteristics in mail and mark them, but even 
this cannot anticipate all the new variations which arrive every day. 
Thankfully, my ISP is introducing spam filtering as a service shortly 
for free. Maybe you could use one with a service like that.
