[pchelpers] Funny windows install message

I am fixing a PC for a man who has done no maintenance on his system
since it was bought. Instead he ran it to a standstill and asked me to
fix it.

To make a long story short, I have booted from floppy, reinitialized the
hard drive, formated part of it under W98 in DOS mode.

After rebooting with the windows CD there is a message that reads:
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer etc".
The drive is showing up in BIOS and accessible from DOS. I would
appreciate some insight on this. Am I losing it or what?
