[pchelpers] Re: Fried RAM update

Hiya Jackie

I'm so glad your CDROM drive is working ok. Sorry
about your cold. Hope you're feeling better now.

John, this is the first time this happened to me or
heard of it ever happening. I've known incompatible or
bad RAMs just won't be picked up by the system or it'd
just beep or blue screened. This really caught me by
surprise. When I smelled burn, I tried switching off
by holding down the button but no go. So I had to pull
the plug. And when I opened the case, boy the stench
was worse!

HP told me its system board is compatible with
Kingston RAM and why this one burned was also a
mystery to them.

I figured the RAM must have short circuited because of
some fault somewhere! I haven't the slightest clue.
Well, I suppose it has to happen to someone sometime
and it just have to pick me! §:^P

This shop I bought it from is a retailer selling
mostly PC components, cables etc and there's no
machine there for testing anything. Oh well, as long
as I can get a replacement, I'll wait. I still have
the HP RAM to play with. <g>

Take care you guys.

Tonia
