[pchelpers] Re: Free Antivirus -- updates

Yes, I did all these things and I still did not get it to install from the
folder. I have the file in the AVG folder. I got disgusted with the message
"no internet connection" and just sat there staring at it. Then I was going
to close the window and I noticed that it was actually at that moment
updating the virus definition from the internet. I could not believe it. It
was a huge file.

Now I have it up to date and I did nothing. I have it set to automatic
updates and I will see what happens in the future.

I believe it is a problem with AVG not me.

Thank you and everyone for all your help,
Inge

Hi Inge

You must have got the option "Do not ask for update source" checked. Select
"Update Manager" from the AVG control panel. Click on the "Properties"
button. Uncheck "Do not ask for update source" and you will get the dialog
box asking where you want to get your update from. Also, you need to save
your downloaded update files in the same folder where AVG is installed. If
you click on that folder, you'll see several dll and exe files among others,
in the folder where you installed AVG. That is the folder you have to save
the update files in. AVG won't go looking for update files anywhere else so
it won't tell you it's got updates available if it can't find the files. Try
it. It has worked for for from AVG 6 to 7.

Hope that helps this time :^)
